Position Overview

The Loan Documentation Specialist II supports, processes and reviews loan origination and renewal documents for consumer and commercial loan products. Responsible for reviewing credit approval request, determining loan structure and preparing required documentation for closing. This position works with loan officers, title companies, and attorneys’ through all stages of the document preparation and processing in accordance with established guidelines.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates consumer, commercial and commercial real estate loan documents for processing to meet scheduled closing timeframes. Reviews third party documents such as title and appraisals. Verifies accuracy of the loan docs
  • Ensures all requirements and conditions to close are satisfied before releasing documents for closing
  • Coordinates builder approval process to ensure the loan is ready by the closing date
  • Obtains information related to the loan origination process including: ordering credit reports, appraisals, preliminary title reports, UCC searches, environmental reports, insurance information, flood certificates, Secretary of State filings and various other items
  • Prepares and reconciles the loan origination documents for commercial, commercial real estate, construction and consumer loans
  • Review outside counsel documentation prior to closing
  • Conducts pre-closing review of loan documents
  • Review loan packages for compliance with Federal regulations and Credit Policy Guidelines
  • Review closed loan packages to ensure required and properly executed documents are on file
  • Able to work with third party vendors and be familiar with their product reporting
  • Complies with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position, including BSA, AML, OFAC and CIP
  • Participates in community events to keep with the “Team Marine” philosophy and image

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Four years loan documentation experience preferred, or
  • Any related combination of training and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of LaserPro or equivalent loan documentation system
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products and the ability to grasp computer software concepts
  • Knowledge of the banking industry including loan accounting
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial and consumer loan documents
  • Understanding of corporate structures
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to understand financial information, including but not limited to income and expense statement, balance sheet, tax documents, corporate annual reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers
